Political support for our sector in Brighton and Hove

Our Reps Council have been developing ‘Key Messages and Recommendations’ to support them in their work of engaging with politicians in the run up to the local elections in Brighton and Hove in May 2019. We want to raise awareness and encourage political support for our sector.

We are seeking your feedback on what has been developed; read our consultation document and submit your feedback via our survey by Friday 14 September:

If you have any questions call us on 01273 234 023 and ask to speak to Angie Greany.

We will circulate the final version of the document at the beginning of October via our e-lists and newsletter and our Reps will use the final Key Messages and Recommendations in discussions with council elected members, statutory colleagues and in partnership meetings.  Community Works will seek discussion with representatives from all political parties to canvass support for the recommendations.

Our hope is also to hold a hustings event at our AGM on 21 November; more details to follow soon.

For support with engaging politicians, NCVO recently hosted a webinar that is summarised here: https://blogs.ncvo.org.uk/2018/08/02/nine-tips-for-engaging-with-politicians/
