Supported Volunteering

Supported volunteering refers to volunteering opportunities that have specific support structures in place that respond to identified support needs. For some people, these structures are the crucial element in making volunteering possible or not.

In this way, supported volunteering structures and programmes are often a positive response to engaging people with disabilities and/or those with additional support needs such as learning disabilities, autism, Asperger’s, mental health issues, dual diagnosis or those with a physical disability or impairment.
